The Sunshine Coast in Queensland is a Great Family Vacation Spot
The Sunshine Coast is one of the true natural gems of Queensland, which is positively plush with natural gems. It is also easy to get to being just one hour north of Brisbane and services by the Sunshine Coast Airport from all major cities and many Australian regional centers. There is a great range of holiday accommodation to stay in while you are visiting this corner of paradise.
The Sunshine Coast and the Gold Coast just north and south of Brisbane are both amongst Queensland’s most popular tourist spots, but they are both quite different from each other and have unique things to offer the visitor.
There is a lot to do on the Sunshine Coast, and a lot of it revolves around the incredible natural beauty of the coast and hinterland. You can enjoy a lot of water sports and opportunities to discover stunning coastal rainforests. When your vacation on the coast finishes you will be relaxed and ready to take on the challenges of everyday life once again.
One of the most popular attractions on the coast for visitors is the internationally famous Australia Zoo. The zoo is filled with native Australian animals such as crocodiles, koalas, kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, Tasmanian devils and much more. You can easily spend the entire day there seeing the incredible displays and enclosures. If you are lucky your might even get to see Bindi Irwin, Bob or Terri around the place as they live on the property and are often busy at work there teaching visitors about how to care for endangered animals.
To the north of the Sunshine Coast is the township of Noosa, which is another internationally known location for its stunning beaches. The white, sandy bay of Noosa Main Beach is protected and a great place for swimming or learning how to surf. Close by is the Noosa National Park, where koala filled forest meets the deserted beaches. You can walk through to a bluff where you will be greeted with beautiful views to the south.
Mooloolaba is another very popular beach on the coast, where there are wonderful swimming spots, barbecues and parks, cafes, restaurants and shopping. This is also one of the centers of nightlife on the Sunshine Coast and you will find a number of night clubs along The Esplanade. For something a little quieter, Cotton Tree is a great place to stay being nestled between Maroochydore beach and the Maroochy River.
Up behind Maroochydore and Mooloolaba you will find Buderim, which is a small mountain. At the top there is a beautiful waterfall park, which makes a lovely place to wander and bath under the waterfall and paddle in the creeks that flow there.
While holidaying on the Sunshine Coast, you will find a great range of accommodation to meet your needs and budget. There are a number of townships that have beach front accommodation and sea views for reasonable prices and huge resorts where you will find all the activities and amenities that you could want.
